Since we just started this site, the term "Frequently Asked Questions" didn't seem to apply. But here are a few things we think that you should ask...
How did you two meet?
Alyssa: We were cubicle neighbors, working for a large retailer in San Francisco. But we became fantastic friends over lots of tea, grilled cheese, work gossip, and a wedding.
Carla: I was lucky enough to inherit Alyssa when she came back to work for my company (she was TOTALLY my boss for several weeks). The very first thing I noticed about her after she unpacked her Banker's boxes was that she owned a USB Tea Warmer. Seeing that was kind of what I imagine ET feels when he sees Reese's Pieces: clearly, we have a winner. We started chatting a lot through the (intentional) hole in our cubicle wall and the rest is pretty rad history.
What are your favorite things about each other?
Alyssa: Carla has LOADS of really amazing talents that she keeps hidden, so it's like a treasure hunt to be her friend (like, she's an amazing photographer. And she can find ANYTHING online. And she knows a lot about makeup even though she hardly ever wears any.). I don't want to make people gag, but to be perfectly honest I love Carla mainly because she's hilarious, super-sweet, and totally crazy (in a really good way). And lastly, she tells fantastic stories and never seems to run out of them.
Carla: It seems like you're asking for a list. Here, here is a list:
- Alyssa loves all the very best things in the world (which happen to be a lot of the same things that I love): tea, food, walks, sunshine, wine, her mom, her friends, making people feel at home, being awesome at the things she does.
- She's basically the prettiest bride ever. (I am not asking her if I can post this picture.)
- She'll tell you when you're right and things suck, but MORE IMPORTANTLY she'll tell you if you're being a dummy. And you'll know she's right and you're being a moron because she wouldn't ever say such a thing unless she cared.
- I don't know how to put this into a bullet point, but she's just... JOYFUL. She's the most fun to be around and she always makes you happier than you were before you interacted with her.
- She's insanely generous. I mean this in all the ways that matter: sure, she'd totally give you her things if you wanted them, but more than that, she thinks about those around her and who they are and what they want and she is patient and loving and helpful. I can't overstate how kind she is, how committed she is to the people she loves.
